When you purchase chapters on this web site, you are paying for the right to read the PDF files on your computer for as long as the novel resides here. A novel may be removed if the author succeeds in having it published on paper or if the novel does not garner sufficient interest among readers on the site.
You may save the PDF files on your computer or print them for your own use. However, you may not in any manner give the files to others, and/or print them and distribute printed copies to others in a manner that allows them to read the chapters without paying for them. Nor may you give others your e-mail address in order to allow them to read files on the site without paying for them. There are a limited number of IP locations from which your e-mail address will work. If your internet service provider (ISP) assigns random IP addresses -- which is often a strategy of questionable intent (e.g., spammers, botnet herders) -- then you will quickly run out of allowable IP addresses. The solution is to get another ISP.
Now, a word about common decency. Not every author reaches the pinnacle of success as does a JK Rowling or Stephen King. In fact, if a novel appears on this web site it is precisely because the author, although having written a quality piece, has been unable to interest a publisher in it. They face the prospect of having their novel see the light of day only if they pay somebody to print it for them. ChapterByChapter.net offers an alternative to the so-called vanity press. We do not charge authors for making their novels available to readers.
An author of a work that appears here has likely worked long years on his or her brainchild -- on weekends and evenings after coming home from an arduous day job. A basic tenet of this web site is to offer authors an opportunity to demonstrate that their works have merit and deserve to be published. That's where you, the reader, fits in. By supporting a novel, you provide that proof. So please appreciate the aspiring author's plight and provide that proof.
We recommend that you use the free Firefox browser to read chapters. If you are using a Mac, Safari is fine too. Both Firefox and Safari are compliant with international standards for web browsers. This site requires that you have the free Adobe Reader installed on your PC. You should also allow javascript and pop-up windows. We do not have advertising on this site and will not sell your e-mail address to others.
As explained above, there are a limited number of IP locations from which your e-mail address will work; make sure you register from a PC that you will use to read books.
